Think all the best movies are on your http://www.direct.tv/direct-tv/Arizona/ movie channels? What about the independents that never make it to major release? If you live in the Arizona area you’re missing out if you’re not going to one of the region’s best film festivals. Here are a few of our favorites:
International Film Festival Arizona: Okay, so this is probably one you already know but did you know this Tucson institution has everything from animated movies to digital shorts? If you’re looking for a great place to take in what’s new, this is it.
Sedona International: This one attracts the biggest names of them all and why wouldn’t it – the scenery here alone is enough of a draw! If you’re looking for some great local films this is the spot you should start with.
Puro Mexicano Tucson: This one is relatively new but it’s all about the Mexican flavor. If you’re into Spanish language films this is a festival you really can’t afford to miss – and it’s so close to home! Apparently Tucson is the place for the best film festivals in the state.

If you are a filmmaker most likely you want to get your films into major film festivals. In order to make a film that is worthy of being in a film festival you have to put in a lot of work and effort in order for it to be a quality film. If you want to get your film into major festivals follow these steps.
1. Create a film that is absolutely amazing.
The film has to have a great script, great acting, sound design and soundtrack has to be good as well as strong cinematography. Editing is also a major factor in film making. If the editing isn’t flawless it isn’t ready for a major film festival.
2. Have a promotion budget.
You need a budget for covering DVD copies and fees for festivals. You have to have money to promote your film.
3. Do not send your film to only one film festival.
To increase your chances send your film to at least 3 festivals. The more festivals the better.
4. Get people talking about your film. Try to get a review and use social networking sites to your advantage. Your film will not be a hit if no one is talking about it.

Film festivals provide a wonderful local opportunity to watch as many movies as possible in a very short amount of time. Why on earth would this be appealing? There is a wonderful sense of community and comradeship as friends come together and converge on a college campus or other site to watch films that they have never seen before.

There is also a sense of surprise in watching the new films. Your mind embarks on a new adventure without any preconceived notions from commercials, critics, or those posters that line the movie theater walls. Festivals preserve the uniquely rich novelty of the movie-viewing experience.

One of the best aspects of local festivals is that they often display film products from local artists. Some may even be students. The festival could be the only opportunity to view the film, and some of these local creations are simply amazing.

You could even witness the birth of a classic there. Local film festivals can offer a first glimpse of movies that will eventually become box office wonders.

With gas prices today, most people are looking for local entertainment. So, visit a local film festival. You can indulge your senses in your own hometown. Gorge yourself on movies, share in the fun with friends, and experience new things without having to travel miles and miles for the experience.Keep looking, there’s more: The 2012 Palm Springs Film Festival
